Nomination Path to Coach (CTC/CEC) Process Flow

Pre-nomination call with Review Team Member

Step 1. The nominating coach and a member of the CEC/CTC Review Team will discuss review criteria, expectations, application questions, and share strong application samples. Note: This call is mandatory, but only for first-time nominators. Coaches should choose a review team member from the list here.

Step 2. Based on the outcome of the initial call, the nominating coach decides whether or not to proceed with the nomination. If they decide to proceed, they start an application here for CEC, or here for CTC, and invite their nominee as a "Collaborator" to the application.

Step 3. The candidate coach (nominee) schedules a call with a member of the Review Team (listed here) to assess and validate professional coaching knowledge, skill, and fluency. Professional coaching is the most common gap reviewers find in applicants, so having this step early in the process helps maximize the amount of work yet to be done to meet the certification standards.

Candidates will be asked to do a short coaching session with the reviewer to demonstrate their coaching competencies. If the candidate does not hold a CSP-SM, the reviewer will also use this call to validate that they can meet and demonstrate ALL the CSP-SM learning objectives. The nominating coach may participate as an observer.

Step 4. If the results of the coaching call are successful, the nominating coach and nominee collaborate to complete and submit the application for review.

First review by Review Team

Step 5. A member of the Review Team shares preliminary feedback and requests clarification of any areas assessed as not meeting expectations or needing more information. The application is shared back to the nominating coach and nominee for revisions.

Second review by Review Team

Step 6. Once the application is resubmitted, it is re-reviewed by the first reviewer, and then assigned to and reviewed by a second reviewer. In the event of a disagreement between two reviewers, a third reviewer assesses the application as a tie-breaker.

Final review by Review Team

Step 7. The final adjudication of the application is shared with the nominating coach and candidate. In the event of an unsuccessful application feedback on gap areas is provided to the coach and candidate and a deferment period is given.

Step 8. In the event the nomination is unsuccessful, the candidate will have a feedback call with the reviewers to clarify any questions regarding the feedback provided.
