*As of 1 September 2023, the below requirements have been updated:

Certified Scrum Developer Educator candidates and applications must meet the following requirements: 

  • Certifications and Scrum Alliance Status 
    • A CSD Educator candidate must be an active Scrum Alliance certificant in good standing (free of Scrum Alliance Code of Ethics complaints or violations).
    • A CSD Educator candidate must hold, and have visible on their Scrum Alliance profile, an active CSP-D certification.
    • A CSD Educator candidate must hold, and have visible on their profile, an active Scrum Alliance certification for the course they are applying to instruct (CSD, A-CSD, and/or CSP-D).
    • A CSD Educator candidate must have a CSD offering approved before submitting to provide A-CSD; must have an A-CSD offering approved before submitting to provide CSP-D.
  • Instructional Experiences
    • A CSD Educator candidate must clearly describe their instructional path and goals, including their differentiating personal approach. [WAIVED for CST].
    • A CSD Educator candidate must validate at least 60 months of technical experience in a Scrum/Agile setting, including key learnings and impacts to your trainings.
      • Experience may include:  education, training, or certification(s) that show proficiency in technical practice(s), and/or role-based work experience, actively working as a Developer on an Agile Team, and/or using code in an Agile environment.
    • A CSD Educator candidate must have instructed or co-instructed at least 7 courses within the last 60 months.  These courses may be certified or uncertified, and should have a technical focus.
      • At least one of these courses must be co-instructed with a previously approved CSD Educator.
  • Mapping and Course Materials
    • A CSD Educator candidate must submit mapped CSD training materials, which validate the most recent version of the Scrum Foundations and CSD, A-CSD, and/or CSP-D learning objectives.  
      • Note:  applications to offer CSD must also map to and include all current Scrum Foundations learning objectives [Scrum Foundations mapping is WAIVED for CSTs].
    • A CSD Educator candidate must provide a thorough course offering overview for the submitted course, painting a portrait of the student experience.  This overview must detail the minimum 16 hours of instruction per course.
  • Letters of Recommendation
    • A CSD Educator candidate must provide at least two letters of recommendation from those who can directly validate the candidate’s expertise in training and breadth and depth of technical Agile/scrum knowledge. [WAIVED for CST].
  • Community Involvement/Engagement
    • A CSD Educator candidate must have participated in at least one Scrum Alliance event (Global or Regional Scrum Gathering, or Agile Coaching Retreat) within the last 60 months.
    • A CSD Educator candidate must provide evidence of at least 2 instances of active community engagement in the national/international scrum community for at least 60 months prior to application.  [WAIVED for CST and/or CAC].
  • Training Skills Assessment (TSA)
    • A CSD Educator candidate must successfully complete a Training Skills Assessment (TSA) after all course materials are approved. [WAIVED FOR CST or have previously passed a TSA].
